Frequently Asked Questions: Vendors

Vendors and Concessionaires who have been accepted into a "booth" space at the Chinese New Year Festival will be assigned a location along the 200 block of Main Street or in Hunter Square, which abuts Main Street. Each space is 10' x 10' unless otherwise reserved.

Festival hours: The Festival officially is advertised to open at the conclusion of the Chinese New Year Celebration parade, which begins at 10 a.m. and crosses Main Street to end about a block south. Because there are several pedestrian access points to the Festival venue, vendors must be ready for festival visitors no later than 11:00 a.m.

Parking: Each vendor will be allowed one parking pass to enter into and park at the restricted parking area, which is on Weber Avenue one block east of El Dorado. (Weber Avenue is divided by a landscaped median.) Access to Weber Avenue at El Dorado will be closed to the public; the pass must be displayed in the window in order to drive to the parking. Additional free parking is available at the city's Ed Coy Garage two short blocks north, at the corner of Channel & Hunter Streets.

Important Note:

Once a vehicle has entered Weber Avenue to the parking area, no exit is possible until AFTER the conclusion of the parade, which will be after 12 noon. If a vendor anticipates having to leave for any reason, he/she may park along surface streets-- El Dorado south of Weber, Market Street, Hunter Street north of Weber, and Weber Avenue north of the median, and others-- adjoining the venue. Street parking is free; meters will not be enforced.

Specific directions to get to the parking area is on the venue/parking map / below.

Set-up and unloading: Vendors may arrive to unload and set up at the site at 7:30 a.m. Each vendor is responsible for bringing equipment (handcarts, handtrucks, etc.) for transporting merchandise and necessary supplies from their own vehicles at curbside to the assigned space.

Check-in and space assignment: Upon arrival at the venue, each vendor should check in with Festival organizers at the sign-in table on the courthouse sidewalk adjacent to the vendor parking lot to receive space assignments and other information.
Tents, tables, chairs: Except for vendors who have made prior arrangements with Festival organizers, vendors are supplying their own tents and anchors. Two 8' x 2.5' tables and two folding chairs will be supplied for each individual space and will be set out at each vendor location. Vendors who have purchased two spaces will have four tables and four chairs.
Table coverings: Each vendor must supply its own coverings for the tables.
Signage: No signage will be supplied by Festival organizers. Vendors who wish to have sign identification should provide their own.
Breakdown & Clean-up: The Festival ends at 5 p.m. and all vendors are expected to be clear of the area by 6:30 p.m. Every vendor is responsible for clearing his/her own space of trash, boxes, wrapping materials, plastic, bags, and other debris at the end of the Festival and depositing the trash into the dumpster which will be parked nearby. Festival organizers also request that vendors fold & set the tables and chairs in place to be collected.
