Frequently Asked Questions: Festival and Activities

The committee members have worked many volunteer hours to bring the Chinese New Year Celebration to the streets of Downtown Stockton. We hope you enjoy the festivities!
Below are FAQs that may guide you through our fun filled family event.

What time will the Celebration be held?

  • The festival will open after the conclusion of the parade and end at 5 p.m.

Where will the Festival be held?

  • The festival area will include Main Street in front of the Bob Hope Theatre, the lobby and theatre of the Bob Hope itself, and the Hunter Square area.

What is the Bob Hope Theatre?

  • The Bob Hope Theatre is formally known as the Fox Theatre and has had a multi-million dollar renovation. For the cost of admission, you may enjoy the beautiful and intricate facility and plush seating.

What is the admission fee?

  • Access to all of the vendor booths and food are free. There is a nominal charge of $2.00 per person to see the entertainment within the Bob Hope Theatre. Children ages 5 years old and younger are free. The fee also includes a chance for many fabulous raffle prizes.

What type of entertainment will be featured?

  • A variety of acts will be held through out the day, with an intermission. There will be lion dancing, martial arts, tai chi, Chinese musical instruments, and world renown tenors.

What are some of the raffle prizes?

  • The top prize is $500. There will also be gift certificates from local merchants, and Chinese arts and crafts.

Will there be food available?

  • A variety of Chinese and American foods will be available for purchase, as well as water and soda. Tickets will be sold to be used at the drink and food booths.

How much are the food and beverage tickets?

  • The tickets for food and beverage are $1.00 each, with no minimum purchase.

What type of vendors will there be?

  • We will have vendors who are selling Chinese related arts and crafts, books, as well as informational booths. The Chinese senior citizen center, Jene Wah, will offer your name in Chinese calligraphy in the lobby of the Bob Hope.

Are there activities for children?

  • We will have a children's arts and crafts corner and a bowling alley for the young to enjoy.

What type of facilities will be available?

  • There will be porta potties on site.

Where do I park?

  • There is FREE event parking in the Ed Coy Garage on Hunter Street, behind the downtown movie theatre.

What happens if it rains?

  • The event will be held, rain or shine! There will be a covered tent with seating available for all.
