Night of China: 2007 Chinese New Year Performing Arts Showcase at Delta College

 
 

Treat yourself to a night of spectacular, exotic Chinese performances of international caliber at San Joaquin Delta College 's Atherton Auditorium. The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. , Saturday, February 24, 2007 .

Night of China : 2007 Chinese New Year Performing Arts Showcase features several internationally acclaimed performing artists. Among them are tenor Hong-Shen Li who has sung with some of the most renowned opera companies in the United States, Canada, and Europe; soprano Gloria Di who has performed in numerous cities in the United States and on the Central Chinese Television; magician Dong-Jian Zhang who is also known as the " Sichuanese King of Masks;" singer and instrumental musician Bang-Chun Sun who blends his mastery of Chinese instrumental music into his singing; Chinese martial artist Wei Ding, Chinese National Champion in " Drunken Straight Sword; " Broadway musician Jimmy Shao; and ballet dancer Zhong-Qi Shi who starred in the famous Chinese ballet film, The White Haired Girl .

Sponsored by the Delta College Cultural Awareness Program ( CAP ) and co-sponsored by the Chinese Cultural Society of Stockton (CCSS), Asian and Pacific Islander American Staff Association (APIASA) of San Joaquin Delta College , and Stockton Institute for Continued Learning (SICL), the event is the first presentation of what is to become an annual event. .
