Delta Dragons hit the water

 
 

The CCSS Delta Dragons dragon boat team is competing in the 2007

International Dragon Boat Championship Races on Saturday, September 22 at Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay . This is the team's third year of competition in the novice class, which is defined as teams that practice no more than three times for the races and is usually comprised of persons with little or not dragon boat experience. CCSS' team this year is led by captain Stefanie Chu, assisted by team coordinator Gladys Ikeda.

Members of the team are from Stockton , Sacramento , San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Cruz County . Among them are a retiree, a college teacher, students, young and mid-life professionals, and parents, all out for a fun and exciting experience.

Come support and cheer on the Delta Dragons at the Dragon Boat Festival, which runs on both Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23, at Treasure Island beginning at 8 a.m. The no-entry fee festival offers not only the races, which go all day and are easy to see from the banks or bleachers, but also food, children's events, art & crafts vendors, and a full array of cultural entertainment. (The CCSS team races only on Saturday.)
