Retired businessman Chris Poon was selected as the 2009 Citizen of the Year by the Chinese Cultural Society of Stockton for his community service. Among his many activities, Chris was the first chair of SNAG (Safe Neighborhood Action Group) which worked with the Stockton Police and city departments to fight blight, drug use, and crime problems in central Stockton. He continues to be active with the Midtown Project Area Committee focusing on redevelopment. Chris is a former board member and president of CCSS, a former director of the San Joaquin Rental Property Association and served on city task forces on housing and Weber Point development.
